In order to encourage adoptions from
Kings County Animal Control
, The Underdogs thought that an adoption area would be helpful.
When potential adopters visited Animal Control and were interested in a particular dog, the only way to interact with that dog was to get in the kennel with it. This was problematic for several reasons: a dog is rarely in its own kennel, making it difficult to interact with the potential new family member and the kennels are rarely clean enough to allow a potential adopter to come away with clean clothing.
So the Underdogs went to work!
We rolled up our sleeves and built a bright and cheerful adoption area to which potential adoptive families can take a dog and interact with it in a more normal atmosphere. However, as anyone who has begun a construction project knows, we went over budget very quickly! If you ask anyone who has used it though, the Adoption Area at Animal Control was a smashing success! Many thanks to Norma and Chuck Van Zant for their expertise in construction!
